Marcelo Sacani is a Brazilian resident of Guarulhos, São Paulo, whose life trajectory was profoundly transformed by an accident that occurred during a recreational outing with friends. A former automotive mechanic — a profession through which he developed practical skills, logic, and technical reasoning — Marcelo’s life changed dramatically after a dive into a lagoon resulted in a severe spinal injury, compromising movement from the waist down. Since then, he has lived as a wheelchair user and was retired due to disability. b) Interview Testimony My encounter with Marcelo took place at a busy intersection in Guarulhos, where, during traffic-light intervals, he approached drivers seeking financial assistance.
